Requirements for Motorcycle License in Colorado
You must be at least 16 years old to apply for an “M” endorsement for your driver’s license in Colorado.

Colorado Motorcycle Operator Safety Training (MOST)
Completing a Colorado MOST course will waive your requirements for taking a separate motorcycle skills test.
After you pass the course, you’ll receive a MOST license waiver card.
When you get the waiver, you’ll need to make an appointment to visit the DMV and present the original copy to add your motorcycle endorsement.
A typical course costs between $200 and $335.
The Basic Rider Course consists of 15 total hours (5 hours of classroom training and 10 hours of riding exercises.)
Colorado Motorcycle Permits
If you are under 18 years old and have never been licensed, you’ll need to first apply for your Colorado motorcycle instruction permit.
To apply visit your DMV office and:
- Complete the application.
- Provide proof of your identification, residency, and legal presence.

- Pass the written motorcycle exam.
- Pass a vision test.
