How to Get a Delaware Motorcycle License

To apply for a motorcycle license in Delaware if you’re over 18 years old, you’ll need to:

  • Visit the Delaware DMV.
  • Complete an application.
  • Provide proof of your identity, residency, and legal presence.
  • Pass a vision exam.
  • Pass the written exam and road test OR provide proof of completion of a motorcycle training course.
  • Pay the required testing and application fees.

If you are 18 years old or older and do not take a motorcycle safety course, you’ll need to hold a motorcycle permit for 6 months before taking your exams and receiving your motorcycle endorsement.

If you’re under 18 years old, you are required to complete a motorcycle training program.

If you’ve recently moved to Delaware, you’ll need to transfer your out-of-state motorcycle endorsement within 60 days. To apply:

  • Complete an application.
  • Provide proof of your identity, residency, and legal presence.
  • Pass a vision test.
  • Pass a written motorcycle test.
