Sample Questions for the AL Motorcycle Test

1. The best position when riding through a curve:

  1. Will depend on traffic, road condition, and the shape of the curve. 
  2. Is the left lane position.
  3. Is the center lane position.
  4. Is the right lane position.

2. When making a slow speed turn or U-turn on a motorcycle, you should:

  1. Avoid using the rear brakes.
  2. Avoid using the front brake.
  3. Avoid using the clutch lever.
  4. Avoid using the throttle.

3. Convex mirrors on your motorcycle:

  1. Give you a 360 degree view around your motorcycle.

Taking a motorcycle safety course is one of the best ways to prepare yourself to get an Alabama motorcycle endorsement and become a safe rider. 

These courses are designed for any new motorcyclists, even if you’ve never ridden a motorcycle before. 

The course consists of a classroom portion and on-bike training.

About the Motorcycle Permit Test in Alabama

Passing the written exam, or motorcycle knowledge test, is one of the major steps towards getting your Alabama motorcycle license

The test is designed to check your knowledge on a number of topics related to operating a motorcycle safely. 

In Alabama, the motorcycle permit test consists of 30 questions.

You’ll need a score of 80% to pass.

If you complete an approved motorcycle rider education course, you’ll be able to skip the AL DMV written test. 

Alabama Motorcycle Skills Test

There is no motorcycle skill test requirement in Alabama. 

However, it is still important to gain the necessary skills to operate a motorcycle safely in traffic.

If you complete a motorcycle training course, you’ll have the opportunity to learn the techniques and practice all of the necessary skills. 

During the course, you can expect to be trained on skills that include:

  • Weaving through cones. 
  • Figure 8s in a box. 
  • Normal stops. 
  • Quick stops. 
  • Turning from a stop. 
  • U-turns. 
  • Swerves. 
  • Cornering.
