South Dakota ATV Registration Requirements & ORV Stickers

South Dakota DOR requires titles for ATVs and other off-road vehicles. 

To apply, you’ll need to submit the following to your local county treasurer’s office:

Non-residents can purchase 5-15 day temporary permits for their out-of-state ATVs to be operated in the state. 

Temporary permits cost $1 per day needed.

Be sure to check the rules, regulations and fees for the South Dakota off-road trails you plan on riding. Local laws and regulations may vary. 

Regardless of whether a particular state or trail requires it, ATV/UTV and dirt bike riders and passengers should always wear the proper safety equipment and helmets while riding.
