Virginia ATV Registration Requirements & ORV Stickers
You will need to get your ATV titled in Virginia.
ATVs with gas or diesel engines over 50cc are required to be titled.
To apply for your ATV title, you’ll need to submit the following to the Virginia DMV:
- Completed Application for Certificate of Title and Registration (Form VSA-17A): https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/pdf/vsa17a.pdf
- Proof of ownership.
- Bill of Sale.
- Proof of your address.
- Payment for the $15 title fee and taxes owed.
ATV & Off-Road Vehicle Laws in Virginia
Be sure to check the rules, regulations and fees for the Virginia off-road trails you plan on riding. Local laws and regulations may vary.
ATV size restrictions apply for younger riders.
- Riders under 12 cannot ride an ATV over 70cc.
- Riders ages 12 to 16 can only operate ATVs up to 90cc.
All riders are required to wear an approved helmet.
Regardless of whether a particular state or trail requires it, ATV/UTV and dirt bike riders and passengers should always wear the proper safety equipment and helmets while riding.
Never operate an off-road vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Failing to obey the off-road vehicle laws of Virginia and the local jurisdiction may result in tickets, fines, and penalties.
