How to Replace a Lost Motorcycle Title in California

Your options for requesting a duplicate motorcycle title include:

To replace a lost motorcycle title in California, you’ll need:

  • Complete a duplicate title application. 
  • Your driver’s license number. 
  • The motorcycle VIN.
  • Your license plate number. 
  • Payment for the duplicate title fee.

Note, if you are selling the motorcycle but the title is lost, you can complete the Application for Duplicate/Transfer as part of the sale. Both the buyer and the seller will need to complete the form together.
