How to Replace a Lost Motorcycle Title in Connecticut

Your options for requesting a duplicate motorcycle title include:

  • In person at your local DMV office. (Excluding the Putnam office).
  • By mail.

To replace a lost motorcycle title in Connecticut, you’ll need to:

  • Complete an replacement title application: https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/DMV/20/29/H6Bpdf.pdf 
  • Provide your personal information and address.
  • Provide the motorcycle details including the VIN, title number (if available), year, make, and model.
  • Pay the lost title fee.

Note, Connecticut motorcycles that are over 20 model years do not require a title. 

If you are selling your motorcycle, but have lost the title, you can complete a replacement title application and a Supplemental Assignment of Ownership form (https://www.dmvct.state.ct.us/Q1Form.aspx) to complete the transfer. 

Can I get a duplicate title online?

In Connecticut, you cannot request a replacement title online at this time.
