A proper muffler is required, and can be no louder than:

  • 82 decibels when traveling under 35 mph.
  • 86 decibels when traveling over 35 mph.

Noise restrictions may be enforced by local law enforcement or during periodic inspections. 

Local jurisdictions may have their own ordinances regarding motorcycle noise limits.

Motorcycle Safety Inspections and Equipment Requirements

Period safety and equipment inspections for motorcycles in Nevada are not required.

Some of the equipment requirements for Nevada motorcycles include:

  • Rearview mirror.
  • Fenders on each wheel.

Minimum Motorcycle Insurance Coverage in Nevada

Motorcycle insurance is required in Nevada, the minimum coverage limits are:

  • $15,000 bodily injury coverage per person.
  • $30,000 bodily injury coverage per accident.
  • $10,000  property damage coverage per accident.

Motorcycle Safety Course Requirements & Details

An approved motorcycle safety course is required for riders under 18 years old if there is an approved program within 30 miles of their home in order to get a motorcycle license in Nevada.

Completing the course will waive the requirements for the road test and written exam.

Before you get a Nevada motorcycle license, you will not need to already have a standard driver’s license. 

Motorcycle Permit & Licensing Requirements in Nevada

A motorcycle instruction permit is not required.

In order to get the permit, you’ll need to pass a written test.

  • No riding on the freeway.
  • Daytime riding only.
  • Supervised riding only.
