You’ll also need to complete the 3-hour e-Course portion of the curriculum within 10 days of your first class.

  • Be able to ride a bicycle. 
  • Have written parental permission if you are under 18 years old. 

When you arrive for your skills portion of the course, you’ll need to wear:

  • A DOT-approved motorcycle helmet. 
  • Eye protection. 
  • A long-sleeve shirt or protective jacket. 
  • Long pants made of durable material with snug-fitting cuffs. 
  • Sturdy boots that cover your ankles. 
  • Full finger protective gloves.

What is covered in the rider training course?

The curriculum and exercises for your motorcycle safety course are developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF), the Wyoming motorcycle safety and training coordinator and its administering agency. 

During your course, you’ll gain hands-on riding experience along with classroom instruction. 

The classroom portion will generally consist of 5 hours, including a motorcycle knowledge exam.

The hands-on training will typically last for 10 hours over 2 days, and end with a skills evaluation.
