South Dakota Snowmobile Registration Requirements

In South Dakota, all snowmobiles need to be registered in order to be ridden on public lands. 

To register your snowmobile, you’ll need to visit your local county treasurer’s office. 

If you are not a resident of South Dakota, you may legally ride your out of state snowmobile as long as it is properly registered in another state. 

South Dakota Snowmobile Registration Cost

Fees for SD snowmobile registration and license are as follows:

  • Residents: $10 per year. 
  • Non-residents: $40 for a 5-day temporary permit.

All riders must carry liability insurance for their snowmobile.
